HYJ-2 is a URAT1 inhibitor and uric acid-lowering agent. It inhibits URAT1-mediated uric acid transport by interacting with key residues within the URAT1 binding pocket. HYJ-2 effectively reduces serum uric acid levels in hyperuricemic mice without causing liver or kidney damage. It exhibits low cytotoxicity toward hepatocytes and renal cells and does not significantly induce hepatocyte apoptosis or mitochondrial dysfunction. HYJ-2 is useful for research related to hyperuricemia and gout.
