By binding to Abeta40 in the blood, it establishes a 'peripheral sink' effect, thereby promoting the transfer of amyloid proteins from the central nervous system to the periphery and reducing brain plaque burden. It is primarily used for pharmacological research in Alzheimer's disease and cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
