This compound, also known as Glyceryl palmitate, functions as an activator of the PI3K/Akt pathway and as an inhibitor of P-glycoprotein (P-gp). It can induce G2/M phase arrest and caspase-dependent apoptosis in cancer cells while suppressing the expression of IAP proteins. Additionally, it enhances drug accumulation by inhibiting P-gp activity in intestinal Caco-2 cells. 1-Monopalmitin promotes protective autophagy and induces apoptosis in lung cancer cells with an IC50 of 50-58 μg/mL, displaying low toxicity in normal cells. |
