Anserine-D4 is the deuterated form of Anserine, which is a methylated version of Carnosine. This orally bioavailable, histidine-containing dipeptide is found in the skeletal muscles of vertebrates. Anserine (T22243) is resistant to cleavage by serum carnosinase and functions as a biochemical buffer, chelating agent, antioxidant, and anti-glycation agent. It has been shown to enhance memory function in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease (AD).
