BMS-824 is a potent NS5A inhibitor. The 50% inhibition of HCV replicon replication for BMS-824 was approximately 5 nM, with a therapeutic index of >10,000. BMS-824 showed good specificity for HCV, as it was not active against several other RNA and DNA viruses.

The Fmoc group can be deprotected under basic condition to obtain the free amine which can be used for further conjugations. The terminal carboxylic acid can react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators (e.g. EDC, or HATU) to form a stable amide bond.
