Methylcardol triene, a phenolic compound present in cashew nut shell liquid, demonstrates α-glucosidase inhibition (IC50= 39.6 µM) and exhibits schistosomicidal properties by eliminating 100% of adult S. mansoni worms within 24 hours at 100 and 200 µM concentrations. Moreover, it serves as a precursor for synthesizing mono- and bis-benzoxazines.
Butyrolactone V is a fungal metabolite that has been found in A. terreus and has antiprotozoal, antioxidant, and anticancer activities.1,2,3 It is active against the P. falciparum strain K1 (IC50 = 7.9 μg ml) and L. amazonensis promastigotes (IC50 = 23.7 μM).2,1 Butyrolactone V (227 and 454.1 μM) is also active against adult S. mansoni worms.1 It scavenges 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and ABTS radicals with IC50 values of 20.7 and 3.7 μM, respectively, in cell-free assays.3 Butyrolactone V also inhibits proliferation of MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 breast cancer cells (IC50s = 22.2 and 31.9 μM, respectively).1
C19 Ceramide is a naturally occurring ceramide that has been found in J. juncea extracts as well as rat brain and mouse heart.[1],[2],[3] It is elevated in adult and decreased in juvenile whole rat brain extracts by 114 and 37%, respectively, following chronic ethanol exposure.[2] C19 Ceramide is also increased in mouse hearts following administration of angiotensin II.[3]
Luxabendazole is a benzimidazole carbamate broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent. It has proved to be effective against immature and adult stages of the major gastrointestinal nematodes, cestodes, and trematodes.
1-Stearoyl-2-adrenoyl-sn-glycero-3-PE is a phospholipid that contains stearic acid and adrenic acid at thesn-1 andsn-2 positions, respectively. 1-Stearoyl-2-adrenoyl-sn-glycero-3-PE levels are inversely correlated with subject age in mitochondria isolated from human post-mortem hippocampus.1 1.Hancock, S.E., Friedrich, M.G., Mitchell, T.W., et al.Decreases in phospholipids containing adrenic and arachidonic acids occur in the human hippocampus over the adult lifespanLipids50(9)861-872(2015)
Pancuronium is an aminosteroid antagonist of muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) with an IC50value of 14.8 nM using patch clamp electrophysiology in BOSC23 cells expressing mouse nAChRs.1It acts as a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent.2Pancuronium enhances anesthesia induced by isoflurane , reducing immobilization with an ED50value of 1.62 μg kg.3 1.Liu, M., and Dilger, J.P.Site selectivity of competitive antagonists for the mouse adult muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptorMol.
