TMB 8 is a non-competitive antagonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) with IC50 values of 390 and 350 nM, respectively, for human muscle-type and α3β4 subunit-containing ganglionic nAChRs expressed in TE671 RD or SH-SY5Y cells. It inhibits nicotine-induced dopamine release from rat brain synaptosomes (IC50 = 480 nM). TMB 8 also reduces calcium availability in smooth and skeletal muscle, blocking the contractile response in isolated rabbit aortic strip when used at a concentration of 50 μM and inhibiting calcium influx and efflux in isolated guinea pig ileum when used at a concentration of 65 μM. It has been used in the study of intracellular calcium dynamics, particularly in smooth muscle. TMB 8 also inhibits protein kinase C (PKC) activity in a dose-dependent manner.

Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) compounds are produced by both enzymatic and non-enzymatic processes. The products of enzymatic origin, via Leukotriene A4 (LTA4) hydrolase, are stereospecifically 12(R). Non-enzymatic hydrolysis products are 50:50 mixtures at C-12, but are almost exclusively trans at C-6. Thus, the non-enzymatic hydrolysis product of LTA4 is 6-trans-12-epi LTB4. 12-epi LTB4 is an isomer which would not be expected to occur in either non-enzymatic hydrolysis products, or in the enzymatic products of LTA4 hydrolase. Compared to LTB4, 12-epi LTB4 has significantly reduced activity for the LTB4 receptor on human neutrophils (IC50 of 7.5 mM), and on guinea pig lung membranes with a (Ki of 4.7 mM). 12-epi LTB4 is an weak agonist at both the recombinant human BLT1 and BLT2 receptors, requiring approximately 10 mM for full activation of the receptor.
Forphenicine is a bacterial metabolite that has been found in S. fulvoviridis and an inhibitor of alkaline phosphatase (IC50 = 0.036 µg ml for the chicken intestine enzyme). It inhibits the growth of HL-60 leukemia cells when used at a concentration of 10 µM. Forphenicine (50 and 500 µg animal) increases survival in a guinea pig model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).
AZD1236 is a potent and reversible inhibitor of human MMP-9 and MMP-12 (IC50 = 4.5 and 6.1nM, respectively), with >10-fold selectivity to MMP-2 and MMP-13 and >350-fold selectivity to other members of the enzyme family. AZD1236 activity is approximately 20 to 50-fold lower at the rat, mouse, and guinea pig orthologues. In acute models of lung injury, AZD1236 inhibited the haemorrhage and inflammation induced by instillation of human MMP-12 into rat lungs by ~80% at 0.81mg kg, and also abolished macrophage infiltration into BAL fluid induced by tobacco smoke inhalation in the mouse.
